Character Note
This work explores the Japanese character kizuna (絆 or 紲), meaning bonds, ties, and connections.
The work draws from a historical form of the character that incorporates 世 (se) alongside 糸 (ito), the radical associated with thread, silk, and woven material.
The components are fragmented and reconfigured through the sequence of kakijun (書き順), or prescribed order of writing Japanese characters. The stroke order of 世 is repeated and transformed into a continuous visual pattern.
